Dear Reader,
We are approaching the 40th day of 2026.
The winter weather has been harsh here in central Ohio, so it seemed that January would never end. We received nearly a foot of snow a couple of weeks ago, and the temperature has been frigid since then. Thus, it took quite a bit of time to dig out from the mess, and the snow hasn’t gone anywhere yet.
Groundhog Day has come and gone, and six more months of winter are anticipated. But what does an oversized rodent know?
On the other hand, time has been flying, and March Madness will be tipping off before we know it. We are experiencing increasingly more daylight each day, so the snow will melt in the coming days and weeks.
How are your 2026 goals going?
For me, I had a few sprint goals to begin the year:
· Read through the entire Bible in 30 days
· Complete my annual time of fasting and prayer for 30 days to start the New Year to put God first. To read about my prior experiences with fasting, you can visit DeepRootedFasting.com.
· Set my One Word for 2026 (Illuminate)
It wasn’t easy, but I successfully achieved all 3 goals.
What happened during these 30 days?
· God provided new growth and income opportunities that were nowhere on my radar screen
· Blessings through serving others and being available to several friends in their times of need
· New connections were made from seeds that were scattered several months ago
· Reconnection opportunities with prior friends and colleagues
· Clearer focus on what God has been doing in my life and around me
What’s next for me?
· I will be sharpening my focus on illuminate, my One Word for 2026, as I seek to bring light into dark places
· We have decided to work on decluttering our house so that we will be more ready to sell our house when the time is right
· My wife and I have committed to praying together as a couple each night for the next 21 days
· I will be increasing the focus of my website towards personal branding and making serving others a bigger emphasis
· Taking the next best step of faith in each area of my life
